SCRIPT_FINISHEDJve_8-2- at /usr/lib/os-autoinst/testapi.pm line 1001.
Now we got same issue for other validation tests ybonatakis has implemented for lvm tests, so we should apply workaround to catch issues on TW as seems there is not much going on in the bug.
Thing to try:
- We need to check if apparmor is running as can be a culprit of this behavior
- Apply different permissions to /root/.bash_history
- Suppress lvm warnings as proposed by Martin
- Soft-failure should still reference https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1124481 as it's a workaround
Observation¶
openQA test in scenario opensuse-Tumbleweed-DVD-x86_64-lvm_thin_provisioning@64bit fails in
lvm_thin_check
Test suite description¶
Complete OS deployment with unencrypted LVM drive management. Test creates 2 LVM and BIOS boot partitions. Thin pool and thin lv resides on the second LVM partition, where /home (XFS) is being mounted.

On invocation, lvm requires that only the standard file descriptors stdin, stdout and stderr are available. If others are found, they get closed and messages are issued warning about the leak. This warning can be suppressed by setting the environment variable LVM_SUPPRESS_FD_WARNINGS.

This is a good question. The lvm message is only a warning and can be suppressed by setting the environment variable LVM_SUPPRESS_FD_WARNINGS. But, why there is another FD opened and why this issue does not happen on other distris or it did not occured in the past is a mystery for me. I am trying to figure out what is the 3rd FD. Logs did not show anything related and I am not sure whether the dracut output is related or not.

Above data shows different behavior for bash. It keeps creating incrementally file descriptors (~/.bash_history) for users after installation, while after re-login this behavior seems to disappear.

I will keep this issue opened in case the bug won't be fixed we can still suppress lvm messages by setting LVM_SUPPRESS_FD_WARNINGS

as a side note, could we improve test, that it's more obvious that there is a bug? I had a hard times to understand where this /tmp/scriptJve_8.sh is coming from and which script is that. Would it be helpful to upload it? Please, consider follow up task for that (if applicable).

That comes with select_serial_terminal console. We can switch back to root-console, but we will slow down the execution.
