Observation

the test specified still tries to load a Leap 42.1 disk image and then upgrade to Tumbleweed, preserving the ssh keys (or not - both tests fail)

I don't think it's worthy to investigate why the 42.1 disk image does not reach the desktop: this version is long obsolete and not worth any effort. OTOH I think the test should start using a more up-to-date Leap version (preferably 15.4)

The test has been changed to use a Leap 15.2 base image now (good) - but the test does not pass as the reboot seems not to be handled properly (yet)

Sorry for forgot to remove the ORIGIN_SYSTEM_VERSION from test suite of gnome+do_not_import_ssh_keys. I triggered the job, now it passed. https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/3151194#
In fact it is leap 15.4 but needle is for leap 15.2, you can show only screenshot to check it.
