[sle][functional][u][medium] test fails in mdadm because system is under heavy IO load

Category:
Bugs in existing tests
Target version:
SUSE QA - Milestone 19
Description
Observation¶
openQA test in scenario sle-12-SP4-Server-DVD-aarch64-extra_tests_in_textmode@aarch64 fails in
mdadm
The only two runs where the mdadm module is included and the test could reach this step both fail because the system is heavily loaded.
This load results in commands timing out because they cannot return to a shell in time.
Reproducible¶
Fails since mdadm module was added to the test schedule
Expected result¶
Test does not fail because it is written in a way that it can handle stalled consoles until mdadm finishes its operations
Further details¶
Always latest result in this scenario: latest
- Subject changed from [sle][functional][medium][fast] test fails in mdadm because system is under heavy IO load to [sle][functional][u][medium] test fails in mdadm because system is under heavy IO load
- Due date changed from 2018-09-11 to 2018-09-25
- Priority changed from Normal to High
- Target version set to Milestone 19
that did not work because you did not specify a sub-team keyword :)
- Estimated time set to 1.00 h
easy solution for now would be to exclude the test module because it never worked -> which removes the urgency of the ticket
- Status changed from Workable to In Progress
- Assignee set to oorlov
I've checked the last executions of the 'mdadm' module on SLE12 SP4, and noticed that in 6 runs there are no fails with the symptoms from the description of the ticket.
The 'mdadm' module failed once in 0387 build, but due to another reason (missing import 'use version_utils 'is_sle';'). Also, it passes for SLE15 all the time.
So, my suggestion is to monitor the module for several builds more and see if it needs to be modified.
- Status changed from In Progress to Resolved
'mdadm' module is passed in all the 10 jobs. So, I'm closing the ticket as the issue is not reproducible anymore.
