The "sign up" is intentionally closed because it would create a separate account just for the mailinglists, and that would probably cause more harm/confusion than necessary. (Per, would it be possible to get rid of the "register" link on the login page, or is this too complicated because of translations etc.? Alternative question: Would it be possible to have a more useful text on the "registration closed" page?)
The recommended way is to login with your openSUSE account. For this, click the "openSUSE" button on https://lists.opensuse.org/accounts/login/?next=/manage/lists/factory.lists.opensuse.org/
Does this work for you?

I don't have an opensuse account. (I didn't migrate my old one). I
could create a new one but I'd prefer to login with my existing github
credentials if that is possible.

Hi Christian, I was the one who suggested to Dave to open a ticket, which he kindly agreed to.
I have to admit I refuse to touch any of that django/python stuff. I have allergies, I get red rashes. We'll have ask hellcp, he might be more inclined to fix what he started.

We could just use a clever piece of css:
[href^="/accounts/signup/"] {
display: none;
}
which would hide every single signup link on the site (at least in hyperkitty, it would still show up in postorius, because we don't do anything with the stylesheets there)

It also wouldn't harm us to redirect /accounts/signup/ to the SUSE signup page?
- Status changed from New to Resolved
We will continue tracking the signup page in another issue
