[functional][sle][y] test fails in releasenotes_origin - release notes are from RPM for now
Added by mloviska over 5 years ago.
Updated over 5 years ago.
Category:
Bugs in existing tests
Target version:
SUSE QA - Milestone 19
Description
Observation¶
openQA test in scenario sle-15-SP1-Installer-DVD-x86_64-releasenotes_origin+unregistered@64bit fails in
releasenotes_origin
I have noticed that SCC_REGISTER variable is empty, shouldn't we set it to installation for now ?
Reproducible¶
Fails since (at least) Build 13.2
Expected result¶
Last good: SLE 15 GM latest
Further details¶
Always latest result in this scenario: latest
Please always search for good "expected results". I am sure there is always a result which you "expect". For SLE15-SP1 the last SLE15 GM test should always be a good starting point.
SLE 15 GM latest should help here.
https://openqa.suse.de/tests/1772451#step/releasenotes_origin/3 is the corresponding step showing that the release notes are downloaded from an online ressource. I assume that simply the release notes are not yet provided online. I recommend to report it as a bug. If the feedback in the bug is negative, as in we are too early expecting that for a new product, then we should gracefully accept the release notes coming from the RPM e.g. based on the BETA-variable.

Well, the testsuite is called "releasenotes_origin+unregistered" so it makes sense if we not register, right? :)
- Description updated (diff)
- Due date set to 2018-09-11
- Status changed from New to Workable
- Priority changed from Normal to High
- Target version set to Milestone 19
my $src = check_var('SCC_REGISTER', 'installation') ? "RPM" : "URL";
But the decision where to look for the release notes relies on this variable. It would be better to update our tests as long as it is not really a product bug.

IMHO it is. Hence I stated "I recommend to report it as a bug."
- Status changed from Workable to Feedback
- Status changed from Feedback to Resolved
