Prepare feature showcase and schedule for the openSUSE conference 2025 workshop size:S
0%
Description
Motivation¶
We should plan our opensuse conference 2025 workshop, for which we've requested a 1h timeslot on friday the 27th (#176169).
The workshop proposal can be read on etherpad, if it needs to be updated, ping @robert.richardson (Due to #177162 no other speakers can currently be added to the actual proposal)
Acceptance criteria¶
- AC1: We have decided on at least one speaker who will prepare and present at least one small feature just to get the discussion started
Suggestions¶
- Look for at least one small feature suitable to be presented at the beginning of the workshop
- Find a person within the team who will prepare and present features
- Consider preparing multiple speakers/topics so we have something to fill the silence depending on how engaged the audience is
- Create a rough time schedule, how long should the presentation part be, how long should the Q&A part be etc.
- https://events.opensuse.org/conferences/oSC25/program/proposals/4950 is the timeslot "OpenQA Discussion Round – Ask the Devs Anything!"
Out of scope¶
- There is already https://events.opensuse.org/conferences/oSC25/program/proposals/4996 by @szarate "Getting started with openQA test development" so we don't need to cover that

FYI the schedule for oSC is being finalized. Now would be the time to request accommodations. Hence taking a look.
Templates for slides are available in git.

As mentioned in #176169, sadly we got a thursday timeslot which according to our vote will have the least members (4, compared to friday 6 and saturday 5) of the team available.
The email from Douglas announcing the schedule also mentions:
"This is the near-final version, and there’s very limited room for changes. Please check your session for accuracy and email me if there are any issues."
We're discussing on slack if we should ask for a different day anyway.
-> As Tina and Gaurav both can't join anyway (will arrive on sunday) and Marius already mentioned he may not be able to help preparing/conducting workshops or talks in #176169, i think asking for another timeslot makes no sense here.
Also we did get "Seminar Room 1" assigned, which according to the latest answers in the OSC telegram group will again not have recording or streaming equipment available.
I'd assume we have a projector available though, so we might be able to have other team members join remotely, though would have to plan and manage that ourselves.

I have messaged Douglas on slack and we will have a projector available, though will have to bring speakers ourselves, then we could have other team members join the discussion via a Jitsi call
