Description

Motivation

One question that came out of #177504 was the following:

What should we do for the future regarding "picking up open pull requests by others"?

Let's consider how we can do better when handling contributions from the community.

We found the following situation with #162035:

  • A community member proposed a PR.
  • We created a ticket in our backlog to support this work.
  • Eventually we took over work on the code to finish it.

Acceptance criteria

  • AC1: One or more ideas have been discussed and documented

Suggestions

  • Bring up ideas in the retro
  • Discuss after the daily or in the virtual coffee break
  • Suggest a change to our workflow in the team chat
  • Consider a new ticket template used for community contributions
