User story¶

In certain job groups where HDD_1 is not a static variable but requires assigment by a bot, reviewers and developers are often confused by the error message if this variable is missing:

Reason: backend died: qemu-img: Could not open '/var/lib/openqa/pool/3': A regular file was expected by the 'file' driver, but something else was given

Unless there are legitimate cases in which HDD_1 does not need to exist, I think it would be great to provide a better error message, e.g. HDD_1 cannot be empty.

The ticket is invalid, if there are legitimate cases where HDD_1 can and should be empty. Please close it in this case.
