Description

Dear openSUSE Heroes,

As per the below conversation, I would be very grateful if you could
set up a new openSUSE mailing list which can be used as the destination
of notifications intended for the administrators of the 'opensuse'
organization in Vagrant Cloud:

https://app.vagrantup.com/opensuse

I suggest that it be called vagrant-admins@opensuse.org but I'm open
to alternative suggestions.

I would also suggest that the process for requesting creation of new
mailing lists is clarified on the two web pages mentioned below.

Many thanks!
Adam

We plan to create a separate mailinglist for the openSUSE
organization, that will be owned by openSUSE. But we haven't
done that yet.

Please can you expediate a solution for flipping the logo -
normally the openSUSE Board chases up these things quite
aggressively when we find them 'in the wild' :)

If you can expediate the creation of a new
vagrant-admins@opensuse.org mailing list, then we can fix this
properly. Unfortunately neither of:

https://lists.opensuse.org/
https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Communication_channels

explain how to request the creation of a new list.

All openSUSE Infrastructure requests are handled by the openSUSE
Heroes, the conglomeration of volunteers and colleagues from SUSE
Engineering-IT, who can be contacted via admin@opensuse.org

Hi Adam

wrt the name - how about "opensuse-vagrant"?

I don't mind the "opensuse-" prefix, but this list would be
specifically for admins of the VC organization, rather than just
anyone who wants to contribute to openSUSE Vagrant box building, so
I'd prefer to keep "-admins" in there if possible. Later we may want
a separate list for the wider group, and "opensuse-vagrant" would make
sense for that.

Subscription - for everyone or only select members?

Select members.

Type of list - one-way / two-way?

Two-way please, if I understand the question right. It's mainly for
receiving notifications from VC, but we'd want to be able to discuss
those notifications on the list if necessary. So we need to allow
receiving mails from non-members, but ideally they should be
moderated.

Moderators ?

I'm happy to moderate, and maybe Dan Čermák dcermak@suse.com too.

Who will be the list owner?

Same answer as for moderators - hopefully there can be more than one
owner?

So we are "just" hosting this list, but it isn't specifically related to the opensuse project?

Select members.

Okay. The moderators/owners will need to approve each subscription.

One-way = announcements, no discussion.
Two-way = discussion list.

I'll set it up for posting from members only. Where will the notifications be coming from?

Moderators ?

I'm happy to moderate, and maybe Dan Čermák dcermak@suse.com too.

Okay, I'll add those two.

Who will be the list owner?

Same answer as for moderators - hopefully there can be more than one

Yup, no problem.

Okay, list "vagrant-admins" created - Theo, could you update the virtual map please?

Adam - I'll need a one-liner that describes the list, for http://lists.opensuse.org, it's probably best if you dictate.
I have added aspiers@suse.com and dcermak@suse.com as owners, you will receive notification regarding new subscribers, posts from non-subscribers etc.

I'll need to do a few tests, it's not the usual list setup, and mlmmj can be a little difficult. Just ignore whatever you may receive until I say go.

The notifications will be coming from Vagrant Cloud. I don't know the
exact address, but I expect it will probably be from either
vagrantcloud.com or vagrantup.com.

Sure: "Administration of 'opensuse' organization in Vagrant Cloud"

Perfect.

Got it. Thanks again!
