Three options:

a) Add some code to click "Close" and ignore it (for now)
b) Manually create a new image based on a newer build
c) Create a new image automatically based on the scripts for x86_64

c) would be ideal, but might need some work.

We've not an Insiders Account for getting an ISO, so this limits our chances.

Another idea is to click on the "Close" button and run the update_windows.pm test if this screen has shown up.

Why blocked? Blocked on which ticket?

As spoken with @lkocman and @ph03nix, we'll add a quick workaround fix to this, as it's in an early development phase.

After closing the pop-up ir re-appears again. I'll drive the test "manually" closing the pop-ups to see if it re-appears again.

As @etchubykalo suggested, I'd try to disable notifications if this pop-up appears.

I figured out that the qcow2 image for aarch64 is not being created within openQA, which means that the Registry values for disabling popups are not being added.

I added some code for adding those values manually.

Popup keeps reappearing even after disabling notifications and rebooting:

I pass the ball to @etchubykalo as I'll be on vacation for two weeks.

There does not seem to be a reliable way of removing the new pop-up. It seems it is designed to be persistent until the issue is resolved.

We need to obtain Microsoft developer rights in order to obtain a Windows aarch image and refresh it in order to fix the issue.

Yay...

We need to obtain Microsoft developer rights in order to obtain a Windows aarch image and refresh it in order to fix the issue.

Someone had a question about the latest canary build so I had a try, and I found that on the very first boot it already claims that the image has expired. So we might have to wait until that bug is fixed I guess.

Some news from Microsoft:

Windows 11 ISOs for Arm64 devices will be made available in the coming weeks.

That should make the whole process easier to automate.

This is an autogenerated message for openQA integration by the openqa_review script:

This bug is still referenced in a failing openQA test: wsl-main@win11_uefi_aarch64
https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/4636766#step/boot_windows/1

To prevent further reminder comments one of the following options should be followed:

  1. The test scenario is fixed by applying the bug fix to the tested product or the test is adjusted
  2. The openQA job group is moved to "Released" or "EOL" (End-of-Life)
  3. The bugref in the openQA scenario is removed or replaced, e.g. label:wontfix:boo1234

Expect the next reminder at the earliest in 28 days if nothing changes in this ticket.
