Description

The openQA tests rely on ROOT and USER having the same password (as far as I've seen - I can set a password in a variable, but it seems to be always the same for root and the user)

On the 12.3 disk image, the two passwords differ, which is the reason for the update not being able to be performed

consoletest_setup tries to login on one tty using root, the other using the user (for select_console)

I see three options:

  • We discard this test (we test upgrades as far back as 12.1)
  • We fix the hdd image to contain only one user
  • we adjust openQA to allow for two variables: root and user password (if this does not already exist and I just missed it)

I tried that already in #12830 but failed to succeed. Please see comments there.
