I had asked for advice beforehand and went ahead to file a request. This is mainly waiting to confirm if it can be done, so forgive me for cutting our progress short:
I was added to the group. I added a point to our onboarding wiki section to be added to that Slack group https://progress.opensuse.org/projects/qa/wiki/Tools/diff?utf8=%E2%9C%93&version=61&version_from=60&commit=View+differences
The group name was communicated with other teams and is already seeing a lot of use, so I think we can consider this a success.
