The problem is certainly not "needle does not match". The password is shown at the login prompt and the login is not conducted. Maybe the "ret" press is too early and not accepted.

https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/592815#step/user_gui_login/6 shows the message "Login Failed" and only 8 dots shown but "nots3cr3t" is 9 characters long
