Description
Dear openSUSE administrator,
A few days ago Membership Officials has approved my openSUSE
membership application. My IRC cloak still not set. Can I get a full
opensuse.org email alias, as I see other members have:
groverchou@opensuse.org if possible.
I looked 'Sending email' part in:
https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Members_mailaddress
But still confused about how can I do that. Sending email using this
address is it possible?
Not a big deal, hope I did not disturb you.

Sincerely,
Grover Chou

Cloak setup done.
According to https://connect.opensuse.org/pg/profile/GroverChouT your mail alias is GroverChouT@opensuse.org - and a quick test [1] shows that it should already work. If it doesn't, please reopen ;-)
[1] telnet mx1.suse.de 25 - and then speaking some SMTP

Hi,
Sorry, perhaps I did not make it clear.
I have trying to telnet mx1.suse.de 25 send email to myself.
I found it does not require verification.
And can only be sent to somebody@opensuse.org.
Can I use it send email to someone@other.domain?

The @opensuse.org address is only an alias.
We don't have a SMTP server where you can authentificate and send out mails. You'll have to use another SMTP server to do this.
I never used gmail, but AFAIK it's possible to use alternative sender addresses like your @opensuse.org address with gmail.

Hello,
I know gmail can add alias to send email, and I do tried before I open this
issue.
Actually to add a alias to email, it need use AUTH to verify account and
send another mail to verify. If I just enter a non-sense password I will
get:
Server returned error: "Unspecified Error (SENT_SECOND_EHLO): Smtp server
does not advertise AUTH capability code(0) "
Which means the original mx server must have some AUTH method to do so.
PS: I can really send mail using other openSUSE member's mail to another,
it can be a problem if not using GPG.
Sorry to bother you.

Dear Grover
this is a ticket system for the openSUSE infrastructure. We cannot help you with the details of how to use your openSUSE email alias. I suggest you ask other openSUSE members, maybe in the openSUSE forums or the openSUSE mailing lists, e.g. opensuse@opensuse.org.
I'll leave this ticket open in case there is any problem with the IRC cloak that we need to look into.
