Description

Motivation

The openQA webUI VM for osd was moved to PRG2. We should clarify that we don't need the old anymore and then decommission it.

Acceptance criteria

  • AC1: osd openQA jobs run successfully for all four archs x86_64+aarch64+s390x+ppc64le without relying on old-osd
  • AC2: old-osd has been deleted
  • AC3: All references to old-osd are removed, e.g. racktables

Suggestions

  • DONE Wait for #133364 to proceed sufficiently
  • DONE Switch off services on old OSD to see if people relied upon it, e.g. based on manual IP
  • DONE Switch off the VM
  • DONE Ask Eng-Infra to decommission old-osd for good
  • Ensure that references to old-osd are removed, e.g. racktables

To prevent any confusion for users accessing old OSD by IP I stopped further services there:

systemctl disable --now openqa-webui apache2 postgresql smb cups rebootmgr nfs-server xinetd vsftpd rsyncd

EDIT: I now unmounted all bind mounts and openQA related mount points as well as /var/lib/pgsql and disabled the entries in /etc/fstab. I still keep /srv/homes.img for /home.

I recommend to power off the machine on Friday and if there are no further problems allow Eng-Infra to remove the VM next week.

EDIT: 2023-08-31: I found again some mount points and PostgreSQL running, stopped again and masked more services. Also uninstalled cups, shouldn't be needed :) Disabled cron jobs.

I sent "poweroff". If nothing bad happens we will tell Eng-Infra next week that they can destroy the VM and delete references in DNS, racktables, etc. We checked and have not found any related alert regarding to the power-down.

No response. Removed "QA" and "openQA" tags in racktables and added "Decommissioned" and a comment "okurz: 2023-09-22: We don't use the VM anymore and SUSE-IT Eng-Infra told us they will shut it down. I don't know if the VM still exists. They did not respond to me on multiple reminders, removing "openQA" and "QA" tags.". Please nobody ask us about this because you found the machine in some wrong old Excel spreadsheet ;)
