Description

Motivation

An informal conversation revealed some confusion with regard to our review workflow, and more importantly how it can be difficult to adhere to. We are somewhat limited by the software we rely on but we should research how to accommodate everyone in the team.

The section Onboarding for new joiners mentions this:

Ensure you are subscribed to all projects referenced in Common tasks for team members

This translates to receiving emails or push notifications for all changes, including reviews. This can be too much and disturb one's focus. Filtering via a query is not trivial either so there's no known obvious work-around at the moment.

Acceptance criteria

  • AC1: All members of SUSE QE Tools are able to follow either the preferred or an alternative review workflow

Suggestions

  • Look into how notifications could be tweaked to reduce distractions
  • Research how to filter GitHub for "QE Tools-maintained projects not reviewed by two persons", or something approximating that
  • Come up with other ideas that could be tried out

Maybe something like https://2review.app/ would be helpful (I tried it out in a 5 minute break with a personal token, it never shows anything... so maybe not? but still wanted to mention it)
