Description

When Google announced they were "Making email safer for you" <
https://gmail.googleblog.com/2016/02/making-email-safer-for-you-posted-by.html

, I started checking my email for the broken lock icon. It appears
opensuse-factory and the other opensuse mailing lists cause a display
of the icon. Are there plans in the works to add TLS encryption to the
mailing list server?

For outgoing mails/postings, using TLS is certainly possible. For incoming postings, STARTTLS is already enabled on mx2.suse.de, but the mails are then passed to the mailing list server (baloo) in clear text. (the two servers are on the same class B network).

I'll try enabling STARTTLS for outgoing and see what happens. I'm not sure if I can try it out for individual mailing lists though.

Since Jan15 16:45, we have delivered about 57'000 mails with TLS. It is obviously optional, i.e. we only try to use TLS when it is offered by the destination server.
