Description

Motivation

See https://news.opensuse.org/2023/01/10/osc-cfp-opens/ . Would be nice to contribute with a presentation or workshop

The openSUSE Conference 2023 is scheduled to take place May 26 to May 28

Acceptance criteria

  • AC1: We know if we want to contribute
  • AC2: Anyone motivated to contribute has submitted a talk/workshop/presentation for acceptance
  • AC3: We know that an easy container-based setup is available and working

Suggestions

  • Ask and inspire team members to hand in talks
  • Consider a workshop with multiple team members on site
    • Conduct a workshop open to users and contributors of openQA
  • CfP closes on April 9 2023
  • Come up with ideas on interesting topics to talk about
    • "An introduction to openQA for beginners"
    • "How do tests work internally" (this was more an example as we had such a talk already) (we can still have the same talk, though)

I would see #120684 as semi-related here as we're planning to conduct the team meet around the time of the conference and would have multiple persons on site, potentially allowing for some synergy like a workshop session with some of us.

The plan as discussed:

  • Cris will submit/ coordinate with Douglas
  • Workshop 1h "Getting started with openQA"
    • Check that we have a working container-based setup that we can recommend to attendees to make it easy for everyone to get started <- EVERYONE
    • Prepare some slides a la "Get started in a few simple steps" <- Cris
  • Workshop 1h "Open chat between openQA users and developers"
  • Tina's talk "Test your App and get a Demo Video for free!‎" - Check with Douglas that we could have the talk scheduled before the workshops

I consider this blocked now unless we re-consider AC3.

While researching something else I also found this issue talking about how people are struggling to get openqa to work on their machines running something other than openSUSE

With #127139 resolved and the schedule in place and including events like https://events.opensuse.org/conferences/oSC23/program/proposals/4067 I see this fulfilled. The conference will just happen, right? ;)
