The problem lies in the xterm window losing focus: and so, the subsequent su
command that leads to the password prompt the next needle check expects fails to be typed. Check the window when the fail occurs (https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/2880021#step/gnucash/8) vs when it doesn't (https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/2879169#step/gnucash/8).
Reason is unknown, but perhaps alt+tab
will do the trick here, since this is the only window.
