Description

Slenkins guys would like some metadata about the disk image to be available on the disk image

Required info includes
Build Number of the OS that built the image
URL of the test that made the image

This information might also be useful in the /hdd repo for the asset, but having it on the disk image is essential for when they're debugging issues with the running image.

  • Checklist item changed from to [ ] SLE, [ ] TW, [ ] Leap
  • Priority changed from High to Low
  • Target version deleted (154)

Reduced to low, as the main item (Build Number) is already present in /etc/YaST2/build

okurz: we are not very often generating SLEnkins images out of openQA assets
okurz: but we keep it as a possibility, especially when there is some major failure somewhere in the images process, as a backup
okurz: when someone tests from an image, it is nice to be able to track back how this image was built
you can get some of the info from the image name, but it might not be complete
okurz: but the question is, would'nt openqa people benefit from this feature too?
i mean, it's by no way slenkins-specific
i'd say, please judge it in the light of usefulness for openqa, and don't bother about /me having the idea

So the request in general would be nice but no action since a year and not so much happening. We would not block corresponding PRs of course but keeping this around probably won't help.
