Description

NFS access to the openSUSE repositories offer a way that seemingly
transfers less data if one is only interested in the metadata of
RPM files. Perhaps the mirror page http://mirrors.opensuse.org/
could indicate this next to the existing methods like rsync?

GWDG is offering mount by NFS; the openSUSE location is
ftp5.gwdg.de:/pub/opensuse

we have like 1 maybe 2 mirrors offering it. if at all.

shouldnt most of the metadata be in the repomd files anyway?

sorry we won't implement that. There have been no demand for this apart from you, and it's quite some trouble to maintain that list for close to zero benefit. The repomd is offering metadata as darix pointed out already
