Description

Hello

it seems like Leap 16.0 ppc64le is supported only on power9+.
We currently don't have a machine with such CPUs in openqa.opensuse.org, there seems to be only a handful of machines in internal openqa.suse.de.

One option how to test ppc64le on Leap 16.0 would be emulation of power9 cpu on x86_64.
Fabian Vogdt already showed QE how to do so.

Just the basic installation would probably run for 3 hours, but it would be better than what we have hnow

Our experience with power emulated in OSD was really bad, with sporadic failures in timeouts that didn't make any sense.
Hope that there is a way to improve performance, it was very time-consuming to fix the test or to extend coverage, happily we could switch to powerVM, because otherwise we should have implemented another code path to not mix with normal qemu code in bootloader in boot_agama.pm.
I guess Power10 is not an option ...

This is an autogenerated message for openQA integration by the openqa_review script:

This bug is still referenced in a failing openQA test: gnome-agama
https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/5026220#step/agama/1

To prevent further reminder comments one of the following options should be followed:

  1. The test scenario is fixed by applying the bug fix to the tested product or the test is adjusted
  2. The openQA job group is moved to "Released" or "EOL" (End-of-Life)
  3. The bugref in the openQA scenario is removed or replaced, e.g. label:wontfix:boo1234

Expect the next reminder at the earliest in 28 days if nothing changes in this ticket.
