Observation

Machine bare-metal5.qe.prg2.suse.org and bare-metal6.qe.prg2.suse.org fail to boot from pxe

Steps to reproduce

  • Set pxe boot from ipmitool
  • Observe on ipmisol console
  • Wait for boot

Impact

ipmi based test run fails

Problem

Look like environment issue. No other clues at the moment.

With the little information about the problem it's unlikely that the tools team can help. I suggest you reference openQA jobs that fail and show the error in there as well as reference "last good". Everyone with their ssh key in the OSD salt pillars can login to the PXE server handling the requests and take a look into the service journals. You may be able to see related tftp requests in there. I suggest you try that for the affected machines at the times when PXE boot failed

There were recently network problems. We also didn't receive more information about this from anyone that might have fixed it. But anyway by now tests have passed on those two machines, e.g. https://openqa.suse.de/tests/16775854 and https://openqa.suse.de/tests/16837838
