Description

Dear SUSE Admin,

I've noticed that there might be a small misconfiguration on
ftp.suse.com, which is also related to openSUSE, because e.g. the
openSUSE CVRF files are hosted there. See my forwarded mail for more
technical info.

I tried to contact ftpadmin@suse.com, but that mailbox doesn't exist. Do
you happen to know the person responsible?

Dear FTP Admin,

I've just noticed that ftp.suse.com has AAAA records set, but refused
connection via IPv6 address on port 443 (port 80 works, but redirects to
HTTPS, which doesn't work via IPv6):

➜  ~ curl -vhttps://ftp.suse.com/

  • Hostftp.suse.com:443 was resolved.
  • IPv6: 2a07:de40:b250:136:10:151:136:1
  • IPv4: 195.135.223.225 *   Trying [2a07:de40:b250:136:10:151:136:1]:443...
  • connect to 2a07:de40:b250:136:10:151:136:1 port 443 from 2001:9e8:e6bf:2a01:349c:cfa:ed:48aa port 42516 failed: Connection refused *   Trying 195.135.223.225:443...
  • Connected to ftp.suse.com (195.135.223.225) port 443 [...]

This is not urgent, but only a friendly heads-up :)

Hi Nicolas,

thanks for reporting. This is indeed a SUSE operated service, which we (openSUSE admins) do not have any control over.

Hi @opensuse-admin-obs,

can you help with this? I'm not sure if ftp.suse.com is part of OBS infrastructure.

Best,
Georg
