[refactoring] Simplify basic_container_tests

Description
The basic_container_tests works nicely, but contains redundant tests and could be simplified.
e.g. for a basic test, running smoke tests on one container instead of three is sufficient.
This was the first container tests and some tests are now run outside in more depth. We can remove redundant tests and really just run the basic smoke tests which are not covered elsewhere.
