Brute-force salt osiris so that we enable self-management of VMs for users size:M
0%
Description
Motivation¶
osiris+seth originally had their own salt repo https://gitlab.suse.de/qa-sle/qsf-cluster-salt-states/ and we tried to combine that as part of #117691 and #132452 and #130378 but ultimately failed so osiris is kinda working as manually maintained VM hypervisor host with no salt and no easy user management. To be able to work on requests like #151265 we should just brute-force enable https://gitlab.suse.de/openqa/salt-states-openqa on at least osiris (potentially also seth) which already bring the new shiny "libvirt" role and then offer users to easily create their own VMs.
Acceptance criteria¶
- AC1: Our wiki describes how users can create VMs themselves on osiris same as they can do on ada
Suggestions¶
- Just follow the instructions from https://gitlab.suse.de/openqa/salt-states-openqa and enable salt on osiris, potentially using the libvirt role after crosschecking that this does what we want here
- Update the wiki instructions accordingly on https://wiki.suse.net/index.php/SUSE-Quality_Assurance/Labs/QA-SLE_cluster
- Suggest mgrossu in #151265 to follow that process and ensure they can fulfill what they need

The machine is in salt and users have been created. I also documented the steps to create a VM in the Wiki: https://wiki.suse.net/index.php/SUSE-Quality_Assurance/Labs/QA-SLE_cluster#Create_a_VM_on_osiris-1.qe.nue2.suse.org
