Motivation¶
We set the correct serial port in salt for openQA workers but not yet for all machines
Acceptance criteria¶
- AC1: All currently salt-states-openqa controlled machines show grub and boot log and Getty on ipmi sol
Acceptance tests¶
- AT1-1: Call
ipmitool … backup-qam.qe.nue2.suse.org … sol activatefor any non-openQA-worker salt controlled machine shows a getty login prompt
Suggestions¶
- Use any salt controlled physical machine, connect over IPMI, and try if the kernel log and a getty login prompt show up on boot. For openQA workers that should already work, try it out with a non-worker salt controlled machine.
- Extend https://gitlab.suse.de/openqa/salt-states-openqa/-/merge_requests/1037 to make the config applicable for all salt controlled machines
- After application check some non-openQA-worker salt controlled machines and fix the host specific configuration where needed

Unfortunately no one could help yet. But I think we can followup here with lower prio. And putting back to "New" to make the ticket more feasible for estimation and getting help.
