Looking at the age of gnome-packagekit in svn, I wonder if there is actually ANY value in this at all; that was around the time of GNOME Packagekit 3.6.x
imho, we should also try to find a way to ensure that translations we provide find their way upstream.. the goal should be not to have own translations
For packagekit-gnome, I'll try to diff vs what upstream actually had at that time to find out what the purpose of our own package was to start with

Exactly. What we have here is pure legacy stuff. Throwing it away could be a valid solution. I only opened tasks for the pot files that still appear to have related packages in Factory.
