I also converted my obs repos to use it, and did the whole thing at once.","While my regular PC upgraded easily, I also did a new install on a pi 4, support for which was just introduced. The first boot was erratic, and I ended up having to manually expand the partition. After that it booted fine, but at some point it stopped picking up dns servers from dhcp, so I had to manually set that in sysconfig and yast. Finally, chrony often used 100% cpu on a clean boot. I eventually switched it to ntp. So in a way my pi4 experience was somewhat miserable, but even so that system is now working."

From beta phase to release version everything run smoothly, except for pgAdmin4. I don't know what happen, but my guess is something wrong with the python3 library either flask, werkzeug or SQLAlchemy. Using pgAdmin4 and pyhon3-SQLA from obs repo and SQLAlchemy solved the problem. I use my laptop for works whether just for making document, spreadsheet, browsing or some coding with vim for javascript, bash or python. Well, i try vs code but I'm an ""old man"", and old habit is very hard to break :-) I recorded my music with Ardour and Audacity, but don't have a free time yet to test it.

Network manager is very good now. I use KDE and all my setting works including some openvpn connection.

I upgrade my KVM guest and host without any problem at all. It contains 3 VM with postgresql12 running in cluster HA and 1 VM with pgpool, it all running smoothly. I have 1 problem though, the data is stored in iscsi storage, event the postgresql systemd script already consist of After=network.target, it always failed to start automatically, and the log shows it cannot find /data directory. If I login and start the postgresql service it run automagically.

I have several servers in openstack public cloud running a web application with postgresql11 cluster but don't update it yet. I will wait maybe a month or two, it has around 7 transactions per second and I need to muster up my courage before I press the enter button :-)","Like I said above, from what I use only pgadmin4.

I used the documented sed command and it replaced the pointers fine. Still, I have a file ""openSUSE-Leap-15.1-1.repo"" there which I renamed to ""openSUSE-Leap-15.2-1.repo"" just to be sure. But I don't see how release numbers in repo file names are handled. There is no information available.

Also, I know, stability and stuff. But things like bash version and pip should not be tooooooo far behind bash version 5.x is out now how long? Two years? Sorry, this is a no-go. Also, to update my python apps, I needed to update pip first. This also is a no-go. Package managers shouldn't be too far behind too."

If they would have been a year old, okay. Alas, some are 4 years old and lack therefore features we (I) are depending upon. Also, the kernel is not even based upon a LTS version, which means additional burden in maintaining the kernel.

Instead of being the main OS, Tumbleweed has taken that position, even despite the frequent updates and hence the time it takes to run the updates.

Version 15.2 is now only used when modern features/functions/optimizations are not a prerequisite and stability is.

","I might haven't seen it but there should be an easier way to upgrade from an older distribution. I use a sed command but that works only if no $release variable was used in the repos.

Also on one machine I went through the betas and this resulted in not being able to run yosys (got core dumps). I waited until the release of 15.2 and tried my luck in a VM with it installed and there it worked perfectly. So I had to do a clean install afterwards. Of course a beta is a beta, so I can't blame anyone for this. But: it would have been helpful if there was a third option when installing: installation, update and replace the existing distribution, where there installer reads fstab to determine the partitions and some crucial configuration (printers, soundcards, etc.). "

This project has complete product, good infrastructure, good documentation, and solid community. Packages were quickly available, which means problems were quickly resolved. I have rund a prelease months before the actual release and it was very stable.","What I find problematic in general in Leap is hardware support of peripherals: printers, tables, scanners etc. The package for this are generally coming from SLE and getting an upgrade to support newer hardware, something recently bought, is a long process to which maintainers are generally unresponsive. I assume this not an issue for an enterprise context, but for consumers (as I am) this could see some improvement."

I also think Suse and other Linux companies should activily talk, work and ask companies like NVidia to comply with these changes. Pubicly of everyone to see if needed. ","I had several problems when upgrading my real hardware to leap15.2.

On my desktop, I have an NVIDIA card, I used the NVIDIA proprietary driver.

The release notes did not mention anything about NVIDIA deprecation, but it turns out my driver does not exist any more at https://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/leap/15.2/x86_64/ (nvidia-computeG03). That was an unpleasant surprise, I tried to install it myself from the source (https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_the_hard_way) but that did not work. I ended up using nouveau in the end but I have a few glitches with 3D I did not have with proprietary driver.

On my HTPC, which uses intel i915 graphics, I had also a bad upgrade experience. The desktop was full of artefacts and unusable. I realized after a lot of head-scratching that this was because it has switched from regular X11 to X11-wayland. This is quite a big change, though it is described nowhere in the release notes either ! I read from distrowatch that when one installs from scratch, several session types are possible. In my case only 'Plasma' in proposed at the login screen, I do not know how to get the extra session types. I uninstalled x11-wayland and things have gone back to normal.

On my laptops (Asus zenbook), I had problems with UEFI secure boot. Virtualbox migration initially worked, then there were a couple a kernel upgrades, after which Virtualbox would no longer launch (complained that some modules were not properly signed). Indeed after each upgrade I have a 'MOK' boot screen when I reboot, I imagine I ought to do something about it but what exactly, anyway it appears just once briefly at each reboot. I found out I could disable UEFI secure boot from my BIOS, which I did, and now everything is back to normal (I hate secure boot, I wish a painful and horrible death to the MS engineers who have come up with that garbage).

I upgraded to Tumbleweed and added this repo https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/X11%3ACinnamon%3ANext/cinnamon to get the latest Cinnamon DE available for Tumbleweed. It seems to fix that strange lagging problem.

Last problem that I encountered on Leap 15.2 is with Flatpaks. Installing them went fine and they are working fine, but for some strange reason their icons disappeared randomly from the Cinnamon program menu. Changing the DE didn't fixed the issue. I haven't tried the latest version of Flatpak (1.8.1 from user repo) on Tumbleweed to check if this was solved or not."

And for now I have to manually untick pkgs I don't want.

That's the only thing that bothers a little.

Maybe either don't recommend too much,or make a stricter strategy for the installer?"

You have a better product. And that includes all the myriad of applications available.

Windows 10 takes ages to load (and it is a fairly basic install), and then sit there thrashing the hard drive endlessly). The disk thrashing function is a Microsoft specialty.

I had even bought a new printer, and feared that it might not work. It does perfectly. ","I think the Yast software manager still needs a little work. If you don't know close enough to what you are looking for it will just come back with no result. Then I use a web browser to get some clues and type that back in and all is good. But that really is a minor quibble.

In 15.1 I used the proprietary NVIDIA drivers. Those also got updated. But when I booted the first time, X window system didn't start at all. Finally I decided to install 15.2 from scratch keeping my old home dirs. This ended in KDE not starting. The reason was that the zsh-shell is not installed by default but my user account is set for using zsh. After installing zsh I could start KDE.

What I am still fighting with is sound. In 15.1 I could switch between using my headphones and using my monitor speakers connected via DisplayPort. In 15.2 I get no sound at all.

Installed on two gamer laptops and one SuperMicro server. On laptop went perfectly, everything worked, including the special function keys to adjust audio volume and screen brightness. Networkmanager worked seamlessly with WiFi and hard-wired Ethernet. The second laptop, different brand, couldn't adjust screen brightness with the Fn keys, but everything else seemed to work. But it didn't have a WiFi radio, it was removed for security reasons.

The server install went well, it has 512-GB of RAM, NvME system memory, SATA SSD drives, and a AVAGO raid controller with two volumes sharing 36 14-TB Seagate SAS disks. There was one XFS filesystem problem that turned out to be cockpit error, mentioned below.

All in all, good job! Thanks to all you folks for all you do.","XFS was selected for the two large RAID6 volumes but the installation failed when trying to mount the volumes. Bug ID 1174056 was created since the problem manifested as if it was an XFS kernel problem. The volumes were mountable on 15.1, but not 15.2. The issue was caused by upstream XFS becoming more critical of RAID configuration parameters. The volumes were mistakenly created with larger than recommend stripe sizes, so the problem was partially ours, which was revealed by a picky XFS kernel in 15.2. The volumes were deleted and rebuilt, now all is well. But we will have future problems upgrading 15.1l servers which may also have the configuration problem. It would be nice to have an install-time switch to turn off sanity checks in the XFS filesystem module.

I would also like to see the capability of adding a proxy server during the install process. I frequently have to install on non-routed RFC 1918 networks, but that do contain a reachable squid proxy.

It might also be helpful to see a better install-time description of the ""transactional server"" install option.

I've also encountered konsole windows where changes to font sizes, color schemes, etc. don't persist on the first tab of the window. The attributes persist on any additional tabs. Odd.

После чистой установки openSUSE Leap 15.2 у меня не запускается Flatpak. Нужно вручную удалять папку /var/lib/flatpak. После этого Flatpak работает.

Почему Gnome имеет версию 3.34, если уже в апреле был 3.36??? Ядро также версии 5.3, вместо LTS 5.4. Не вижу смысла не объединять усилия для поддержки версий LTS. Это же open-source и он для всех, а не для вас.

Дистрибутив очень плохо подготовлен для использования неопытными пользователями. Почти всегда нужно запускать терминал. Жаль, что так мало внимания уделяется пользовательскому опыту. When I did the upgrade, I saw that when I boot the computer, I got a blue screen talking about enroll keys. I avoided it and looked in the openSUSE and SLE documentation and didn't find clear and sufficient information about this, for me, strange event when starting the computer. I noticed that every time I updated the kernel of the operating system that blue screen reappeared when I started the computer asking to enroll keys.

The problem occurred when I tried to run a virtual machine in VirtualBox, it wouldn't let me run because of signature problems in the kernel modules. In other operating system forums I found that I had to do the key registration process, but nothing applicable to openSUSE. Finally I had to disable secure boot on the computer's UEFI and disable secure boot support in the Grub parameters in YaST.

In the openSUSE documentation I haven't found how to enable this key registration process, although I understood that the key I should use is the one of the ""root"" user."

As it is now, Fedora 32 with the tained rpms and some other downloads allows me to watch or view any email attachment, or any video format. SUSE is number 2, because of not being one distribution for all users.

I recognize that there are copyright/legal implications of including copyrighted and licensed software within Leap. But there should be no danger in saying, we cannot provide tainted software, but here is a list of third party repositories from which you can purchase/download such codecs.

","I installed the XFCE version, and after install, YAST software kept crashing while installing additional software. Overall the whole system just felt buggy and slow. I have used numerous other distros and DE without issues, but this one just did not feel right. So sadly, I had to remove openSUSE. Will probably try again at a later date, but at this point it is a no-go for me.

J'utilisais TUMBLEWEED KDE jusqu'au jour où les services réseau, partage de fichiers distants n'ont plus été joignable.

je suis revenu à la version leap 15.1 et tout est rentré dans l'ordre. Depuis la mise à jour 15.2 le phénomène recommence.

Je suis en réseau chez moi et je possède un serveur NAS, un DD amovible et un clé USB, une sur un routeur de maison et l'autre sur la BOX du FAI, ceci me permet de joindre mes fichiers facilement depuis mes ordinateurs et de l'extérieur du home.... Et bien entendu de sauvegarder mes fichiers..

Quant à Gnome, catastrophe, on ne peut me pas créer un lien symbolique sur le bureau, Dolphin n'est pas scindable...
