Description

Hi team,

I have spare resources after this weekends maintenance on my mirror server and am looking into a way to spend these wisely.

Is there need for a mirror server in The Netherlands? I have approximately 1TB SSD disk space available at 1 Gbit/s with IPv4, IPv6 and HTTP/HTTPS/rsync.

As my mirror focuses on rolling distributions (Arch and the like) it would be nice to look into mirroring Tumbleweed related modules?

More info at https://easylee.nl/

Note that I added Gentoo and applied but there does not seem to be any need for a new NL mirror so chances are I will be dropping them.

Kind regards,

Eric

Hi Eric
many thanks for volunteering your time and resources.
We currently have 6 mirrors in the Netherlands (see http://mirrors.opensuse.org), but there is always room for more.
Space needed - for example, tumbleweed is about 120G, openSUSE Leap 170Gb, updates 250Gb.

Sounds good.

I was looking at https://mirrors.opensuse.org/list/rsyncinfo-stage.o.o.txt for an overview of the modules. Which one should I pick for Tumbleweed and all updates and possibly some extras since I have enough space?

Yeah, that list really needs updating, it is a little bit confusing.
I would propose you use 'opensuse-full-really-everything' and then you exclude what you don't want. (easily done with --exclude-from).

Ok. Initial sync is running against rsync.opensuse.org

I'm syncing:

distribution/
factory/
tumbleweed/
update/

The openSUSE scanner has rsync access.

It is a pleasure working with a professional! One of the very times I have not had to remind an admin to set up proper reverse mapping :-)

Thank you, appreciate your comments!

I've tested file permissions (bitflip release process) and all is set. Expect me to switch syncing to the stage server if that is OK.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention, you have access to stage now.
