just a quick question on mail attached: Aubscribe request should not go to the
ML, should they?

Morgen Axel,

the request was sent to "opensuse-factory+subscribe@opensuse.org", which is the old address. The correct address is "factory-subscribe@lists.opensuse.org".

Hmm, it is possible this is coming from the archive pages, where we still list the old addresses. I thought I might have been able to fix that quickly, but because we also changed the listnames, it'll take a bit more work.

Was more of a 'heads up' - I feel those should not go through to the ML

OTOH, it might also be coming from e.g. https://de.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mailinglisten which still describes the old method. Weird, I do not get an option to edit, despite being logged in.

The list is open for posting without subscription, so when the address extension '+subscribe' is ignored, it becomes just the old list address which is then redirected. I agree it should not go to the list, but we don't have many options -

redirect to new subscribe address - tedious because the listnames don't match. It would also disguise the change, which I think is a bad idea.

reject with instructions for how to subscribe to the new list. Again, because the listnames have changed, very tedious to set up.

reject without instructions, only a link to our wiki page. I don't know if we can make mailman do that, but it's not very user friendly.

Page updated - there was more than one thing to change ;-)

However, I'm quite sure the old subscribe, unsubscribe, ... addresses are still published at lots of places. Therefore I'd still recommend to redirect the old addresses to the new one. It will probably become a big alias list, but you should be able to generate it with a script (AFAIK we already have such a script from the migration, you "just" need to extend it with
+subscribe
etc.)

I'm not very keen on that idea. The list could be generated, but it hides the fact that we have moved. I would be more tempted to set up an auto reply.

Ignore that, my mistake. We have too many servers ... :-)
In the last 30 days, the recipient check triggered 47 times. I'm closing this.
