closedMailing list creation? kernel-bugs@o.o

Description
Hi folks -
I'm in the process of changing the default assignee for the Kernel
component for both SUSE and openSUSE away from being a mailing list
served by forge.provo.novell.com. I've already created a mailing list
for SUSE kernel bugs, but I'd like to create a separate list, hosted by
openSUSE, to use for openSUSE kernel bugs.
Can we get a kernel-bugs@opensuse.org list created?
I hope that this is the right place to make this request.
Thanks,
-Jeff

Hi Jeff
yup, exactly the right place - I'll take care of it.

I have created the list "kernel-bugs@o.o" - I'll assign to Lars to get the virtual postfix map updated.
Jeff, by default the list is archived, archives can be seen at lists.opensuse.org - let me know if you don't want that.

Uh, there isn't one - I have added you as list owner, so you'll get any requests for moderation and such.
Subscription is open to anyone - that may not be what you want though ?

The list should be open to everyone but I want to be able to catch e.g.
password reset emails and send those to be moderated. Otherwise, anyone
can just subscribe to the list, ask for a password reset link, and own
the community account associated with it.

There are no "password reset" emails, and there is no "community account" either - the list is open for anyone to subscribe (and post) to.
There is no where to log in, no GUI. it is all managed via email.

This mailing list will be the default assignee for the kernel component
in Bugzilla. To use it as an assignee, it has to have a community
account associated with it. Password resets for that will be sent to
the list.

Okay - so this list will work much like 'opensuse-bugs@o.o' ? On that one, we only permit postings from 'bugzilla_noreply@novell.com', 'bugzilla_noreply@suse.com' and 'bugzilla_noreply@opensuse.org'.
To moderate/stop password reset mails, I would need to know the sender, but that can be done.

It looks like it's noreply@suse.de but the list is already doing the
right thing with non-subscribers. At this point I think we're all set.
Thanks!

A test message from me was correctly funneled to +owner but the messages
from the IDP portal were not. I was unable to get the verification
email either to the list or to +owner after repeated attempts.

I see mails from "noreply@suse.de" - they were bounced, non-subscriber. I have added "noreply@suse.de" as a nomail subscriber, and enabled moderation of non-subscribers.

Can you also set that address to always require moderation? I just got
the email validation email for the account via the list rather than the
moderation queue.

Yep, I'll just unsubscribe "noreply@suse.de", that'll automatically cause it to be moderated.

Hi Folks -
One last thing on this. I've gotten this switched to the default
assignee for Bugzilla but no emails have come through on it. I realized
we never added bugzilla_noreply@suse.com to the list of allowed senders.
Can we get that address either always allowed or added as a nomail
subscriber?
Thanks!

Yep, have added 'bugzilla_noreply@suse.com' as a nomail subscriber.

Uh, btw - nothing has been sent to the list either, you would have been asked to moderate. Must be some config in bugzilla?
Updated by jeff_mahoney almost 4 years ago
Hrm. I don't know what it could be. I see test messages from Bugzilla
coming to me and I can send test messages myself to the kernel-bugs list
but Bugzilla mails aren't getting through. AFAIK there's nothing
special about the kernel-bugs account on Bugzilla and Bugzilla itself
claims to have sent the email to the list.

On 27 May, starting around 1513 CET, a couple of mails were sent, but rejected as they contained HTML formatting. I have removed that restriction, but no traffic since then.

It looks like we're done here.
