Hello Jacob

thanks for volunteering your time and resources, that's great! I have added you to the rsync ACL, although you'll need to set up a reverse map for the IPV6 address.

Depending on how much space you have, I suggest you rsync "opensuse-full-really-everything" and exclude what you have no room for.

I'll inquire again about getting IPv6 PTR records set, though there is
little likelihood of it happening - the last time I asked, I was told that
it was impossible due to inter-departmental issues.
To get around the issue, I've temporarily set our sync to be over IPv4.
Since we have lots of space, I've set our mirror to mirror from the rsync
export you have specified.

Tue Mar 3 17:53:16 2020 purduelog.org: scanned 1217609 files (1075/s) in 1132s
Tue Mar 3 17:53:17 2020 purduelog.org: files to be purged: 0
Tue Mar 3 17:53:19 2020 purduelog.org: total files after scan: 1217609 (delta: 1217609)
Tue Mar 3 17:53:19 2020 purduelog.org: purged old files in 3s.
Tue Mar 3 17:53:19 2020 purduelog.org: now enabled.
Tue Mar 3 17:53:19 2020 purduelog.org: done.
Tue Mar 3 17:53:20 2020 purduelog.org: testing status of base URL...
Tue Mar 3 17:53:20 2020 purduelog.org: OK. Mirror is online now.

I think this has probably been the fastest and smoothest "on-boarding" of a mirror ever. Good stuff.
If the reverse map is an issue, I'll use the IPv6 address - only using names is just a pet peeve of mine.

If you have plenty of space, perhaps you could consider also mirroring repositories/ ? Currently we have exactly one mirror in the US, our own in Provo. Let me know, adding a 2nd one would be really cool.

Greetings,
I've switched our reference internally back to v6 with v4 fallback. I'm
sorry it is an issue at all - I totally understand the want to be
hostname-based.
Our mirror is still doing an initial pull on the base
full-really-everything repository. Once that finishes, the next run will be
on full-really-everything-including-repositories.
For reference, our domain is purduelug.org - not purduelog.org.
Glad to hear it has gone smoothly! Here is to hoping that continues.

repositories/ is a fast-moving target. We have the option of pushing out changes to you - this means you setting up an rsync module for us to upload the changes as they come in. Maybe something to consider once the initial sync is done.

For reference, our domain is purduelug.org - not purduelog.org.

Ah, sorry - muscle memory. I have corrected it, should be updated in the next 10mins.

wrt space - for history/ (Tumbleweed snapshots), it is important you use '-H' on the rsync.

I'm guessing we're done here? Otherwise please re-open.
