This can never have worked - and the verification run showed this fail as well: http://10.161.229.249/tests/81#step/gdb/12
script_run expects the command to return but gdb doesn't return but show a prompt so you will need to use type_string("foo\n") to start gdb.
It is now failing on osd: https://openqa.suse.de/tests/2959947#step/gdb/8

This is failing only on svirt(xen) and this particular issue does not appear on qemu, as one can see in https://openqa.suse.de/tests/2961940#step/gdb/14
The problem is that the openQA call to change to serial console fails on xen on x86_64. pvorel responded in #testing that serial console will be added.
I'll keep the ticket open, until I have more time to talk to him.

Added PR to enable serial backend for XEN
https://github.com/os-autoinst/os-autoinst-distri-opensuse/pull/8191
- run tests for various backends, let's see if it works. If yes, IMHO extra_tests_in_textmode could be converted to use svirt/virtio console.
