Further details

Analyzing the issue further, it seems that lshw package is only available for Public Cloud product (12) and SLE15 with SLE-Module_Basesystem. Failures were detected at least on SLE12SP3/SP4.

PR posted at https://github.com/os-autoinst/os-autoinst-distri-opensuse/pull/6720 to limit where lshw test is being run.

I'm assuming the Public Cloud module SLE12 case is not required to be covered.

Test is failing for SLES 15 SP1 however looks like a bug in the product

Looks like it would only run on ppc64le on sle15 SP1 onwards

It was indeed available on x86_64 in SLE15 (via updates), but that's no longer the case on 15SP1. I can limit the execution of the openQA test to ppc64le only, but I'm waiting a bit if there's an answer to my question about whether it'd be a regression to not have it anymore on x86_64 while people might have started to use it now.

The original bug requesting lshw was about ppc64 while x86_64 was mentioned but not formally agreed upon.

According to all the bugs I found, linked in https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1124500 , I do not expect lshw to come back on x86_64. I guess you should just include it for ppc64le only then.

Frederic Crozat has now replied that he's adding it back for x86_64 for SP1. It's not yet there though, so I'll ask for PR to be merged to limit to ppc64le for now until https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1124500 is closed again.

My PR https://github.com/os-autoinst/os-autoinst-distri-opensuse/pull/6755 was merged. I think this issue could be kept open until lshw is again available on x86_64 as indicated at https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1124500 so I could make yet another PR that allows ppc64le + x86_64.

According to https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1124500#c10 "build 164 should have it" :) So I guess you are good to go to crosscheck again or did I get it wrong?

Yes, I checked and it's now available in SP1 repositories. I will propose a PR to bring back x86 testing.
