Description

When a lot of data is being written at once, there can be noticeable effects for the user operating their system. One example cause is the download of *.iso files via a "good" network connection.

The effects for the user can be as severe as being unable to change which application is focused and second long stutters of the whole system. Smaller stutters in e.g. audio or video streams happen frequently (from my exploratory testing experience), while full-system lag only happened when I used something like dd if=/dev/zero of=foo bs=92M count=111.
