Description

Greetings,

I have setup a opensuse mirror and would like to have access to your staging server and added to the mirror list.

The rsyncing server IP address is 96.244.96.20 and its hostname is ftp.naz.com. It is currently running IPv4 and I am in the process of configuring the IPv6 side.

Please let me know what I have to do to continue.

Thank you,

George Nazarey

First: thank you for providing a mirror server for the openSUSE distribution!

I already added your machine to our whitelist, so you should be able to connect via rsync to stage.opensuse.org from the following addresses:

  • ftp.naz.com
  • static-96-244-96-20.bltmmd.fios.verizon.net (the reverse lookup result from the IPv4 IP - you might want to change this)
  • 96.244.96.20
  • 2001:470:e66b:10::21

Can you please test and report back if this works for you?

What did not work (yet) is the ACL for our scanner to use rsync to scan your machine. I either get a time out or direct an access denied if trying to scan from a machine outside our IP range.

Are you really allowing our range to scan your machine ftp.naz.com via rsync (hosts allow = 195.135.220.0/22 2001:067c:2178::/54)? And you don't have any firewall in front?

With kind regards,
Lars

Greetings,

I made a mistake sending you the IP address for ftp.naz.com http://ftp.naz.com/. It should be 96.244.96.23.

I have made a request to verizon about the reverse DNS and am waiting back for their answer.

I have checked the firewall and forgot to add the rules. It should work now.

Thanks,

George Nazarey

OK: for reference, I just added this IP, so you should still be able to connect to stage.opensuse.org from 96.244.96.20.

I have made a request to verizon about the reverse DNS and am waiting back for their answer.

Good. JFYI: While I don't see any problem there for our rsync, it might happen that you run into problems once you want to send out Emails...

I have checked the firewall and forgot to add the rules. It should work now.

I can confirm that our scanner now has access! :-)

Thanks for your support - your mirror should be enabled in a few hours, once the scanner succeeded.

With kind regards,
Lars
