Description

Hi!

First of all, kernel.org is still listed as a mirror for Sweden on
http://mirrors.opensuse.org/ - it has long since been decomissioned
and now also the backward-compatibility hostname
mirrors.se.eu.kernel.org is gone. Please remove the Sweden entry for
kernel.org.

Second, we would like to inform you that ftp.acc.umu.se supports https
since a while back.

Third, please remove the clickable link for ftp access to
ftp.acc.umu.se. Despite the name the file archive cluster is heavily
optimized for http/https, and those really needing ftp can usually
figure it out from the host name :-)

For the ftp.acc.umu.se admins,

/Nikke

the kernel se has been removed.
but since i double check ftp.acc.umu.se i found something interessting:

warning: 'ftp.acc.umu.se' resolves to multiple IP addresses: 194.71.11.173, 194.71.11.165 2001:6b0:19::173, 2001:6b0:19::165

so the ftp entry is gone like you wanted, but i still want to have the http part

so would it be ok to enable this entry for the mb instance? (because in the past just ftp was enabled, nothing else)

Yes, so do we. And we also support https.

To clarify, it was the only ftp:// link we wanted to remove.
{http,https,rsync}://ftp.acc.umu.se are perfectly OK.

Strange, because the mirror list page had both ftp:// and http://
links when I last checked...

https://ftp.acc.umu.se/mirror/opensuse.org/

That is the correct URL yes. Note that it should be published as
ftp.acc.umu.se, sometimes you have to add an extra option so
MirrorBrain doesn't resolve ftp.acc.umu.se into multiple entries
(won't work so good if/when we have to change which servers
ftp.acc.umu.se consists of).

We usually encourage publishing the http:// https:// and rsync://
flavours of the mirror URL.
