Description
Motivation¶
Our OSD openQA production workload for KVM@PowerNV was so far running in NUE2 which is not usable anymore or not right now, see #170041. We have grenache in PRG2. Can we run KVM workload on grenache-1, the first LPAR?
Acceptance criteria¶
- AC1: KVM@PowerNV OSD tests can run again (any host)
- AC2: We know if we can use grenache-1 as KVM@PowerNV host
Suggestions¶
- Setup temporary worker instance on grenache-1
- Preliminary tests from okurz with
qemu-system-ppc64 --enable-kvm --nographic
showed that likely we needqemu-system-ppc64 --enable-kvm --nographic -machine cap-ccf-assist=off -machine cap-fwnmi=off
which we can probably incorporate into according worker settings - Try to clone an openQA job and set additional QEMUMACHINE settings as necessary
- If possible then add multiple worker instances in https://gitlab.suse.de/openqa/salt-pillars-openqa/-/blob/master/openqa/workerconf.sls
- Monitor execution of scheduled production ppc64le OSD openQA jobs
- Based on results update neighboring tickets accordingly, e.g. #170041 and #169834 and #169564

- Copied from action #170041: Configure wireguard tunnels on hosts located in the NUE2 server room - at least one KVM@PowerNV host added

- Priority changed from High to Normal
- Target version changed from Ready to future
Discussed with szarate and we agreed to keep this as plan B but not follow up for now so that we can focus on more long term evolutions like Power10
