Redmine openSUSE admin - tickets #116800 (Resolved): p.o.o edit accesshttps://progress.opensuse.org/issues/1168002022-09-19T14:30:57Zavicenzi

Hi,

I would like to request edit access to tickets in progress.o.o, so I can close tickets or change their state.
I can help clean up the mirror-related tickets, I'm maintaining a mirror in Brazil and also mirrorcache in SA, with help from Andrii.
I'm also a mirror cache admin, I can help register new mirrors there.
Not sure if I need access to other tools, for example, I don't have permission to add mirrors on stage.o.o, to help more with mirror-related tickets.

I mentioned this during the last Heroes meeting.

Best,

Alex

openSUSE admin - tickets #115136 (Resolved): opensuse.org URL for mirrorcache in South Americahttps://progress.opensuse.org/issues/1151362022-08-09T14:05:02Zavicenzi

Hi,

Should we have https://mirrorcache-sa.opensuse.org/ for the Brazilian mirrorcache?
The current URL is https://cache.opensuse.net.br/.

openSUSE admin - tickets #110406 (In Progress): Wrong URL in UNICAMP mirrorhttps://progress.opensuse.org/issues/1104062022-04-28T12:09:21Zavicenzi

Hi,

The UNICAMP mirror uses http://ftp.unicamp.br/pub/opensuse/updates/ instead of http://ftp.unicamp.br/pub/opensuse/update/.
It seems that the mirror is outdated or syncing to the wrong path and probably the scanner won't notice that, and zypper won't also.

Can someone notice UNICAMP admins to fix it?

Best,

openSUSE admin - tickets #110397 (Resolved): Poor download performance from openSUSE rsynchttps://progress.opensuse.org/issues/1103972022-04-28T11:49:51Zavicenzi

Hi,

Our mirror has been syncing for more than a day, and the average download speed has been 3 mbps.
Are there any limits on rsync.opensuse.org? Our server can easily do 20 mbps or more probably.

I wonder what could be the problem, it does not seem to be on our side.

Best,

openSUSE admin - tickets #105792 (Resolved): No such file or directory for update/tumbleweedhttps://progress.opensuse.org/issues/1057922022-02-01T09:43:56Zavicenzi

Hi,

I noticed that our mirror is not syncing up https://download.opensuse.net.br/update/tumbleweed folder.
It's just a broken link.

If I run:

$ rsync --list-only rsync.opensuse.org::opensuse-full-with-factory/opensuse/update/tumbleweed/

I get the following error:

rsync: change_dir "/opensuse/update/tumbleweed" (in opensuse-full-with-factory) failed: No such file or directory (2)
rsync error: some files/attrs were not transferred (see previous errors) (code 23) at main.c(1677) [Receiver=3.1.3]

It seems the module is broken, can someone confirm and fix it?

openSUSE admin - tickets #92930 (Resolved): New mirror - download.opensuse.net.brhttps://progress.opensuse.org/issues/929302021-05-21T09:01:32Zavicenzi

Hi,

I started a new mirror, it's still syncing up data from rsync.opensuse.org, but I would like to sync from stage servers.

The mirror will be maintained by openSUSE Brasil volunteers, but the VPS is sponsored by Binario Cloud.

By my calculations, it will be possible to have the repos for 15.2, 15.3, and TW, but the current sync is ignoring some archs such as ppc, i586, i686, and s390x.
I can change that later if we have free space, but this mirror will not have Factory and History data.

Not sure if required, but we use Cloudflare and I believe that CF Proxy must be disabled to work, which exposes our IP. If not needed, I would like to enable this feature.
I also set reverse IP lookup and a PTR record, if not needed let me know also.

All the configurations will be available at https://github.com/alexandrevicenzi/opensuse-mirror-docker for others to use, perhaps this could be moved to openSUSE org in the future.

Sponsor URL: https://binario.cloud/
RSYNC URL: rsync.opensuse.net.br
RSYNC allowed only for scans: YES (from 195.135.220.0/22)
HTTP URL: http://download.opensuse.net.br/ and https://download.opensuse.net.br/
FTP URL: Not available
IPs and DNS for the whitelist on stage.opensuse.org: 45.225.27.127 and rsync.opensuse.net.br
Limitations:

100 Mbit network, can be increased in the future

No data cap, but would be nice to limit to 10 TB transfer initially and limit simultaneous connections to a reasonable number (we limit 20 by IP)

1 TB disc size

rsync only allows openSUSE servers

The server should also block access from Asia and Africa continents

The server has also some IP rules/limits to avoid DDoS

The mirror is deployed using Docker

openSUSE admin - tickets #92839 (New): Allow language switch in the URL for www.opensuse.orghttps://progress.opensuse.org/issues/928392021-05-19T11:52:58Zavicenzi

Hi,

The main website (https://www.opensuse.org/) does not allow language in the URL (https://www.opensuse.org/pt_BR), it returns 404.
On the other hand, Get openSUSE does (https://get.opensuse.org/pt_BR/).

If one wants to post the main link in a community forum, website, or else, there's no way to force into that country/region's language.

The subdomain country code URL (https://pt.opensuse.org/) is actually the Wiki page and not the main website, also confusing.

It would be nice to follow a pattern in the URLs and have one single thing that works for all URLs, but most importantly, allow the main website to have a language selector in the URL.

The problem that I see with the main website is that languages come as a JSON and not a new page, that's why there's no way to select a URL, but it could still be implemented using query parameters.

openSUSE admin - tickets #92173 (Resolved): poor quality of mirrors in Brazilhttps://progress.opensuse.org/issues/921732021-05-05T13:33:05Zavicenzi

Over the past few weeks, we started to notice some problems in the quality of mirrors in Brazil, reports from the community, and also from SUSE employees.

There are two main reasons for the problem:

Low number of mirrors in Brazil

Requests being redirected to DE and back to BR (mirror cache)

There are three possible solutions:

Increase the number of mirrors and mirrored content

Route BR to US, not DE, the ping and latency will be lower in most cases

Add a mirrorcache in Brazil

openSUSE admin - tickets #91890 (Resolved): access to stage mirrorhttps://progress.opensuse.org/issues/918902021-04-28T09:38:09Zavicenzi

Hi,

I'm trying to setup a mirror in a container, working on a project that could be possibly used by people trying to setup a mirror.
I already have two companies that are willing to host new mirrors in Brazil, and one requested a Docker image to facilitate deployment.

I would like to have access myself to the stage server, to query and play with while working on such images, just to ensure that it works properly once it's deployed.

It would be also good to have "admin access" to the mirror infrastructure, so I can help with it, I have plans to host a mirror cache in Brazil.
I could be one of the "openSUSE Heroes" and help keep things up and running.

Best,

Alex

openSUSE admin - tickets #91007 (In Progress): Odd content in rsync filehttps://progress.opensuse.org/issues/910072021-04-12T12:27:37Zavicenzi

Hi,

This file https://mirrors.opensuse.org/list/rsyncinfo-rsync.o.o.txt has a lot of unusual stuff, as "Permission denied" for many files.

The link is available at https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mirror_infrastructure#rsync_modules

AFAIK, this file is used to show what modules are available and their size. The stage link has no issues.

Not sure who is responsible for it, but the Mirror contact is this email.

Let me know if you need any help or if I can contribute in any way.

Best,

Alex
