2019-09-03 #opensuse-admin - heroes meeting [20:02:25] Hi all [20:02:33] it's meeting time - who is here? [20:06:26] * knurpht 's here [20:07:01] ok, so until the others show up - [20:07:03] evening [20:07:10] does someone from the community have any questions? [20:07:34] how's the forums stuff? [20:08:15] I only know the mails from Per - last thing I've seen is that he got a copy of the files, but is still waiting for the database dump [20:08:40] OK [20:08:50] (no idea why getting a database dump takes so long, but OTOH I'm actually surprised that he got a copy of the files already) [20:10:51] yup. Kim used to be really fast when he controlled the whole circus for the forums. But he now depends on too many layers. [20:11:33] cboltz: any objections against matrix ? [20:11:58] I'm setting up something for Board communications [20:12:06] hey Carlos [20:12:17] I never used matrix, but I wouldn't call that an objection ;-) [20:13:12] * knurpht will talk about this later tonight. [20:19:04] * Eighth_Doctor waves [20:20:38] me wonders how many nicks Eighth_Doctor uses [20:22:57] not too many ;) [20:26:17] cboltz: I've made a decent amount of progress on ipsilon on openSUSE: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:Pharaoh_Atem:SUSE_Ipsilon/ipsilon [20:26:24] (at build.opensuse.org) [20:26:42] and also, I'm now the package maintainer for Ipsilon in Fedora... [20:28:05] nice :-) [20:28:34] and I'm in the process of reworking that as a Python 3 package for Fedora 31+ [20:29:37] just wondering - how active is the ipsilon develompent? [20:29:55] On pagure I see the last commit 8 months ago, and the last issue was closed 2 years ago [20:33:20] Eighth_Doctor: not terribly active [20:33:25] dang [20:33:36] cboltz: ^ [20:34:18] it does get updated, a patch was merged 5 days ago to fix test suite [20:34:54] which is the patch that was submitted 8 months ago >:T [20:35:51] see yourself: https://pagure.io/ipsilon/commits/master [20:37:30] cboltz: yeah, I see that [20:48:36] Eighth_Doctor: do you have more insight on the (non)activity of the ipsilon development? [21:08:19] cboltz: it's activity is a bit on the low side [21:08:38] but it's still maintained well and gets eyes on it [21:09:27] it's used by Fedora for the IdP, as well as a few others [21:10:04] cboltz: the main reason for the low activity is that Patrick (who created it) has been very busy with dealing with other security issues and such [21:10:17] he's the IoT Security Engineer for the Fedora IoT Edition now [21:10:53] but he still cares about it and wants to grow a community around it [21:12:46] I have to go out [21:24:58] hello, sorry i'm late. dinner etc got in the way. [21:37:07] pjessen: no problem - several people were missing today [21:37:43] I guess you didn't get the forums database dump yet, right? [21:41:23] cboltz: so insofar as ipsilon development goes, there isn't *much* to do to it anymore, other than bugfixes [21:41:29] unless people want to add more protocols to it
