2018-05-01 #opensuse-admin - heroes meeting [20:02:20] looking at the clock - meeting time ;-) [20:02:42] I know it's a public holiday in some countries, but still - who is here for the Heroes meeting? [20:03:55] good evening [20:04:09] hi! [20:04:45] I sense it might be a short meeting .... [20:04:55] what public holiday, do other countries have labour day today? [20:05:22] yes [20:05:32] oh, cool [20:05:39] most of europe I think? [20:05:58] it's all because of communist russia probably :D [20:06:53] while we wait/hope ;-) for more people - does someone from the community have any questions? [20:07:04] that came later. May Day was earlier [20:07:17] ah [20:07:26] how is status on static? [20:07:37] deployment on new things there [20:08:44] the problem with static is that it's spread over two or three git repos, and a few files are not even in git [20:09:41] ohhh [20:09:46] AFAIK Theo wants to merge everything in one git repo and then setup new VMs with automated deployment, but I'm not sure if he had time for this yet [20:09:57] (he's on vacation for ~2 weeks) [20:10:03] yeah, makes sense [20:10:33] so for now, if you need something changed or deployed, ask here and/or open a ticket [20:10:49] I will ;) [20:11:18] *I should have probably asked for search test site* [20:14:03] you mean for https://github.com/openSUSE/search-o-o aka https://opensuse.github.io/search-o-o/ ? [20:15:19] correct [20:16:57] does it consist of static files, or does it need to run some "build script"? [20:17:12] it's based on jekyll [20:17:45] ah, ok [20:18:06] adding a little "how to deploy" section to the README.md might be helpful [20:18:19] and if it's only to avoid silly questions like mine ;-) [20:19:32] Yeah, I will add that later, I'm fighting with odrs and software-o-o to add reviews in there >:D [20:20:43] :-) [20:21:29] I appreciate that that exist, but it would be nice if there was documetation on it, intead of looking though code to find what's where :/ [20:22:14] BTW, another silly question - what is odrs? [20:22:48] open desktop ratings [20:23:01] from gnome software and kde discover [20:23:05] https://odrs.gnome.org/ [20:23:16] good to know, thanks [20:24:09] and yeah, "would be nice if there was documetation" is a good point -probably not only when it comes to odrs ;-) [20:25:56] good that there are c++ and c examples, together I can at least understand something :/ [20:26:16] sounds funny[tm] [20:30:07] our next topic are status reports [20:30:39] from my side, I can only report that things are as boring as I want them to be [20:30:58] the wiki just works [20:31:22] I have nothing to report. Some outstanding mirror issues, a problem with ipv6 revesre mapping (thomic fixed it I think) [20:31:50] no progress on mpving to mailman, have had no time. [20:32:47] elections.o.o also worked without serious problems - the only exception is celeryd (a background daemon doing some work) which crashes whenever it looses the database connection [20:33:33] during the election, I restarted it manually (it's only needed for sending out mails and calculating the results, not for voting itsself) to avoid introducing breakage [20:33:56] but I have an open merge request on gitlab to add Restart= to the .service file to automate that ;-) [20:34:11] (opening a bugreport upstream is on my TODO list) [20:34:30] our cats dragged in three fat mice today. (feldmäuse). [20:34:51] dead or alive? ;-) [20:35:01] alive, then dead, then dinner [20:35:44] so you still have "real" cats that know that they can eat mice, not only canned food? ;-) [20:36:04] oh yes. they spend most time outside. [20:36:49] I though maybe it was a more interesting topic ..... [20:37:23] it's probably the first heroes meeting with a discussion about a mouse that isn't connected to a computer ;-) [20:37:38] hehe, good one! [20:38:13] a few words about oSC18 [20:38:40] my talk was accepted :-) [20:39:15] so people willl enjoy a few things we broke, and how we did that ;-) [20:39:51] great. good luck with it [20:39:59] thanks! [20:40:17] a good laugh is always a good thing [20:41:01] latest screw-up - change of ipv6 addresses caused google to bounce mailing list mail [20:41:20] no worries, I noticed that mail ;-) [20:41:39] haha, I was wondering :-) [20:41:53] IP changes are always a good source for funny[tm] stories [20:42:14] perfect. Yes, it shows it doesn't take much to cause problem.s [20:43:46] will you be at the conference? [20:44:11] I don't think so. It's bad timing for me, family wise. [20:46:36] anything else? [20:46:53] depends - are you bored enough to review some old tickets? [20:47:08] if not, we could say it's a public holiday, and working on public holidays is forbidden ;-) [20:47:12] oh I forgot. [20:47:31] I wanted to review the old tickets _before_ the meeting [20:48:00] given it's just the two of us, I say we postpone. [20:48:46] no objections ;-) [20:50:03] so let's officially close the meeting [20:50:15] I second that. thanks everyone :-) [20:50:19] thanks everybody! [20:50:37] schoenen abend!
